International Child Care - United States
Health and wholeness for children and families in empowered communities

Tuesday

Today was a busy day.  The team was split between the hospital and working on Roseetta' house.  Rossetta has worked for 40 years for ICC in the laundry area and lost her home in the quake .  Her new home is  reached by going through an ally down a hill and through narrow walk ways to get there.  It is a heavily populated area that was hard hit by the quake.  We were well received in the neighborhood and recieved help from the children and relatives of Rosetta.  We woked hard and cleared all the rubble for her new home.  We also moved sand for concret down to he site.  As always, the Haitians were happy and friendly and pleased to see us.

At the same time, the other group was working with the kids on the ward.  With many young children we did a stoy about a young lizard with a short tail that made him different.  They also got mirrors to see themselves, which for some was a first.  In the afternoon, we had a photo printer and took pictures of the children with staff, their parents, and us.  This pleased all.  The staff had as much fun as the children.

As we discussed the trip today, we realized that we are engaged in a life changing experience that has enriched us above anything that we have given to the amazing people of Haiti.

Off very early to Cap Hatien
