International Child Care - United States
Health and wholeness for children and families in empowered communities

Monday

Monday is over and it will be a day to remember. After breakfast of fried eggs and sausage we loaded up our travel van and drove over the bumpy roads to Grace Children's Hospital. This the International Child Care project that the Methodist church has supported for years. We experienced many emotions as we first participated in morning devotions with the staff and patients of the day. This was joyful! Then we proceeded across the street to the original hospital which fell with the earthquake. This was a feeling of disbelief and sadness, especially for Don who had been here before. It was a feeling of awe for Sue and I to be standing in the hospital we have supported so may times through UMW. We spent the rest of the morning hearing about all the wonderful outreach programs in the community. They do a tremendous job!

After lunch, we went to the children's ward and spent all afternoon playing with the kids, many under the age of one. You'll have to see the pictures to understand what we saw, did and felt.

All the people are so kind and appreciatie our presence. A smile and bonjour goes a long way.I can only hope you can have this experience some day.

Michael led our evening devotions and our sharing is changing each night as our feelings and thoughts deepen.

Can't wait for our next day. Paula
