Haiti Day 7 Recap
After devotions (lead by Phil with Gwen reading scripture and Emily praying) we assembled the health kits to distribute at the tent city. With assembly line efficiency we packed 138 kits between the donations we brought along from the church and those that the hospital purchased for us with the funds we sent ahead.
When done even the Haitians realized that we weren't going to get our party of 10, 2 nurses, 2 translators, the driver, and 138 health kits into the 12 passenger van, so we took two trips. The hospital had a tent set up at the tent city that acted as the remote clinic and we unloaded all the health kits there. The tent was soon packed with people and very hot so we really didn't get too much of an opportunity to participate in too much but Nikki and Autumn did get to assist with weighing some babies. The rest of us talked with the families outside and played with the kids who gathered at the clinic.
After lunch we attended a Mom's Club meeting that the hospital holds each Friday for either new moms or moms going through their prenatal program (we never got full details). They thanked us for our service. We then went to say goodbyes to the kids, finished up some last minute souvenir shopping and headed back to the guesthouse for a dip in the pool before supper.
