Grace Employee Chosen for International Training Program
A new training program has given assurance that the equipment generously donated after the earthquake in January 2010, will be utilized and cared for properly by the organizations that it was donated to. MediSend International and the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation is working with two students from Haiti on eliminating the issue of misuse and lack of use of donated equipment. The program that was developed by these two organizations shows students from all over the world, how to use the equipment to help work towards better medical care and knowledge in their country.
Luxon Philogene is one of the students participating in this program, who works for Grace Children’s Hospital in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Luxon was chosen for this program by the Grace Hospital administrator, Hoverlaw Prou, and the ICC U.S. National Director, Keith Mumma. He is currently an electrical engineering student that is hoping to make a place for biomedical technicians in his home country. Luxon feels that this program will not only give him the knowledge that he needs to help care for fellow Haitians, but it will give his work the credibility it needs to be successful. This will be a great opportunity for Grace Children’s Hospital to expand their services to now include the repair of biomedical equipment.
The MediSend graduation will be held this Saturday, June 11 in Texas.
