ICC celebrates 15 years of Community Based Rehabilitation in the DR!
This year, ICC’s operations in the Dominican Republic are celebrating their fifteenth year of working towards health and wholeness for children in our Community Based Rehabilitation project. This project serves hundreds of special needs children each year who would otherwise not receive regular therapy. ICC’s Community Rehabilitation workers are trained to work with parents and caregivers to help develop the physical and cognitive abilities of children who have special needs. They train family members in therapy techniques for children, so that they can continue to make progress between therapy visits.
In 2008, 373 children were served by the program through 11,974 home visits by ICC caseworkers. The blessing this caring staff have been able to offer families is immeasurable. ICC looks forward to the decades ahead, and the ways our programs for children with special needs will continue to grow thanks to you!
