Rotarians from Archbold, Ohio visit International Child Care's Programs in Haiti

Tuesday: This morning we visited the Pure Water Haiti factory in Port-au-Prince. Mr. Anvil gave the group a tour of the factory and answered questions about how the filters are made and distributed. We then traveled to the PWH office and were welcomed by Mr. Succar, the Pure Water Haiti Director, who accompanied the us out to Cabaret, Haiti. Cabaret is about 45 minutes from Grace Children's Hospital. ICC is partnerhing with PWH in this area to provide bio-water sand filters. We visited three different filter sites in Cabaret. The first site was an orphanage with a little church. ICC has four filters in this orphanage. Each filter serves 75 children so 300 children receive clean water at this site alone! Our group also visited a school (kindergarten and primary). The Director of the school welcomed us and then did some demonstrations for us with the filters. Her school has 125 children. We also visited another school with 250 children.
This evening we attended a local Rotary dinner meeting. This club used to meet at the Hotel Montana prior to the earthquake, but now meets in Petionville. The group was introduced and Rev. David David addressed the club. It was a good meeting.
