2 Years Later…

January 12, 2012 marked the 2 year anniversary of the devastating earthquake that struck Haiti. In remembrance of the tragedy, International Child Care was involved in a number of activities during the day. ICC USA and ICC Canada held an online event to discuss the progress that Grace Children’s Hospital has made towards rebuilding. Participating in the chat were: International staff, board members, affiliates, representatives from the Alford Group (capital campaign consulting firm), Children’s Memorial Hospital, and Anderson Mikos (architects). The conversation was very informative and renewed excitement about the hospital campus that will be constructed in the place where such tragedy struck just 2 years ago.

Another event of the day included a press conference at Children’s Memorial Hospital held in Chicago, Illinois.  The conference spoke about the work that GCH continues to do in the Port-au-Prince post earthquake and the importance of its presence in the area. Senator Kwame Raoul along with the design team Dave Mikos and Bob Gallos spoke to the future of GCH.  Representatives from Children’s Memorial including CEO Patrick Magoon as well as Mary Gomez discussed the importance of the rebuilding of GCH.
