Rainy Weather in the Capital
Devastation strikes Port-au-Prince again this week as heavy rains, flooding, and mudslides hit the Haitian capital. There were a number of deaths due to days of rain raging into the Delma area of Port-au-Prince. This is one of the many areas of Port-au-Prince where people there lack proper shelter after the earthquake last January. Grace Children’s Hospital serves the Port-au-Prince area and many individuals and families that live in the surrounding communities. President Michel Martelly assured the public that he will be working hard to make sure they have the help they need during this time. The wet conditions worry officials because this has the potential to increase the likelihood of a cholera outbreak.
