Transitional Facilities Dedicated

On December 16, ICC Haiti officially dedicated the new transitional facilities on the Grace Children’s Hospital campus. Although the facilities have bene in use since mid-summer, this official dedication welcomed the Port-au-Prince community to tour the facility and visit with ICC Haiti staff. Read more »

Haiti Violence Update

Haiti held national elections on November 29. Leading up to the election, unrest and violence made headlines around the world. Late on December 7, the country’s election officials announced a runoff between two candidates, Mirlande Manigat and Jude Celestin.   Read more »

Water Filters Installed in Haitian Schools; Fighting Cholera in Rural Areas

As concerns about the cholera outbreak continue to rise in Haiti, International Child Care is working to combat the spread of cholera and other water-borne diseases. ICC, in conjunction with partner organizations Pure Water for the World, the Rotary Club of Kalamazoo, MI and the Rotary Foundation, is working to install bio-sand water filters at schools throughout Haiti. Cholera Death Toll Rises in Haiti

According to the Associated Press on Monday November 22, Haiti’s Ministry of Health announced that more than 1,100 people have died from Cholera. This death toll is more than 150 counts higher than reported by BBC World News and other sources last weekend. Read more »

Cholera Update 11/19

The cholera outbreak in Haiti continues to grow more severe, and at least one cholera case has also been confirmed in the Dominican Republic. This week, violence broke out in Cap Haitian, Haiti’s second-largest city, which is about eighty miles north of Port-au-Prince. Read more »

ICC Celebrates Arrival of Mobile Clinic Vehicle

On November 7, International Child Care’s office in Haiti received a Mobile Health Clinic donated by the Mobile C.A.R.E Foundation in Chicago, IL. Read more »

Cholera Statement Update

Updated Cholera Statement This week, health officials confirmed that cholera has spread to Port-au-Prince, the capital city of Haiti.  International Child Care has not experienced any cholera infections among our staff or patients at this time.
