Trinity Haiti Day 3 -- Part A

Arms filled with babies.  Bowls of cereal and stew to feed.  Searching eyes. Bubbles.  Smiles, giggles, patty cake and humming songs.  Rocking chairs and benches.  A child's book enjoyed by many.  Busy workers, volunteers and parents.  Diapers, cotton gowns and washclothes.  Tears, wails and sad good-byes.  A day at Mother Theresa's orphanage reminds me how vulnerable children are and how much we all need to be loved and cared for.  May God bless the sisters who carry out his work here on earth all day, every day.

Trinity Haiti Day 3 Part B

Today our team of 15 started at Grace Children's Hospital. We toured the facility and met lots of wonderful people. Then some people

left for Mother Theresa's and other went to two urban health clinics. I am continuing to fall in love with  Haiti and it's people and

learning much from my travel companions. In the  afternoon we spent time with the children in the hospital and distributed some

toys and bubbles. After dinner we were treated to a dance show at St. Josephs's that was fantastic.

Trinity Haiti Day 2 Part B

We were greeted in the courtyard this morning by one of our Haitian friends that our mission team met last year........................ Roseanne, a mother of 10 children who lives in Cite Soleil.  We hugged, smiled, and reconnected.  We traveled to a rural church in Duplan and were blessed with beautiful music and gracious people who showed us much hospitality.................................. we learned that we can understand the language of God even though we do not understand the language itself..........................until Frank gave the sermon, which&nbs

Trinity day 2 - part A

A great day on yet another visit to Haiti......amazing to me that an invitation to come on a trip in 1977 has led to a lifetime of such trips.....but now I don't just want to come to Haiti....a part of me NEEDS to come.

A good nights rest ( too tired to hear the roosters and barking dogs at 3am ) led to a trip this morning to a Methodist Church in Duplan....a village about 30 minutes away.  In 1989 I was last there, and participated in baptizing a Haitian baby.  Returning today brought memories....and a reminder that the people called Methodist are connected across the wor

Trinity-Haiti Day One. Part B

The day began very, very early.  But it began with prayer.  As a team we welcomed a new adventure.  Arriving in Haiti, there was reconnection.  To the land of Haiti, to the people.  A feeling of coming home, to a place where God shines through.  As the day progressed, hearts joined together as veteran travelers and new travelers drove to St. Joseph's Guest House.  Unpacking, scurrying, sorting donations.  Checking the view from the roof...

Trinity - Haiti Day 1 Part A

I want to reach out to my Westmont family and friends in particular.  We arrived in Haiti this afternoon amongst noise, chaos, and very sunny skies!!  I was reflecting on my arrival last year compared to this year and what shouted out to me is that this year I feel "settled" and "focused."  Last year this time, upon my arrival, I was feeling uncertain, overwhelmed, and insecure.  This year I felt relaxed, comfortable, "settled," and "focused."  The visual image that came to mind immediately was a ladybug.  After reflecting I realized that that ladybug image cam
